Music + Choir Director

General Information

Supervisor: Senior Pastor and the Worship Arts Sr Director

Status: Part-time

Overtime Status: Exempt (Ministerial)

Job Description:

The Choir Director is responsible for overseeing programming of Traditional Service within the Music and Worship ministry (in consultation with the Worship Arts Sr Director and Pastor) at CMC. The purpose of the position is to convey CMC’s Christian proclamation and carry out its spiritual mission through the ministry of music, guiding the congregation into the presence of God through worship.

 

Administrative:

  • Meet regularly with the Worship Arts Sr Director as agreed to discuss upcoming events and planning

  • Attend church staff meetings

  • Attend leadership team meetings

  • Work collaboratively with staff and team.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must be a committed Christian who sees Christ as their Savior and who follows Him as Lord, who has a deep love for God and who has a passion for expressing their faith through music.

  • Must be a musician and should play an instrument, preferably piano.

  • Musical directing encouraged.

  • Must have experience in leading worship and understand the difference between worship and performance.

  • Must understand different worship styles, including traditional and contemporary, with a working knowledge of music through the generations.

  • Must exhibit an understanding of the profound impact music and singing has in helping people hear and understand God's word.

  • Must have strong, servant leadership and communication skills.

  • Must have the ability to work well with volunteers and be a team builder.

  • Must have the ability to conduct themselves in professional manner being respectful of the mood and atmosphere that should be present in the public worship service.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Oversee music and choir within the Traditional Service ministry of Caldwell Methodist Church as a team member and director.

  • Oversee the development of worship planning in Planning Center.

  • Responsible for scheduling and leading music for the Sunday morning traditional service.

  • Schedule rehearsals with choir, organist, pianist and others as appropriate in the preparation for Sunday morning worship using available communications software.

  • Prepare and lead other special services, e.g. Christmas Cantata, Christmas Eve, Holy Week etc. and other occasions at the direction of the pastor.

  • Assist in preparation of children and youth music ministry activities such as Vacation Bible School or other special events.

  • Supervise and maintain all musical instruments and robes, recommend replacement and repairs as needed.

  • Continue professional growth as a music leader in a church by attending workshops, conferences and/or seminars as the opportunity affords.

  • Oversee and ensure adequate music for all funerals and weddings, ensuring that all music is appropriate for a service at Caldwell Methodist Church.

  • Responsible for finding a replacement on any Sunday they cannot lead worship.

  • Oversee the development of all multimedia slides and presentations to facilitate a smooth and organized worship experience.

  • Envision and develop new ways to reach a broadening spectrum of congregational and community members with the Gospel through music.

  • Set annual goals regarding volunteer recruitment and active enlistment of new members into the music program, such as choir, children's choir and handbell choir.

  • Assist in development of and recommendations to annual Music Ministry budget to Finance committee during each annual budget cycle.

  • Maintain a professional working relationship with the Senior Pastor and staff and maintain good lines of communication with staff, praise team and congregants.

  • Attend staff and other meetings as requested.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as deemed appropriate by Senior Pastor and Worship Arts Sr Director.

Organist

Schedule: Sundays at 10:30 AM Service +Rehearsals

Location: Caldwell Methodist Church

 

Position Summary:

Caldwell Methodist Church is seeking a skilled and passionate Organist to serve during our 10:30 AM Sunday worship service. This individual will play a vital role in leading our congregation in traditional worship through hymns and sacred music, helping create a reverent and uplifting atmosphere each week.

 Responsibilities:

• Provide organ music for the 10:30 AM Sunday worship service

• Lead and support congregational singing of traditional hymns

• Collaborate with pastoral staff and worship planning in service

• Maintain a spirit of excellence and preparation in all musical leadership

 Qualifications:

• Proven experience playing organ in a church or similar setting

• Strong familiarity with traditional hymns and liturgical worship

• Ability to read music and adapt to service flow as needed

• Reliable, punctual, and well-prepared

• A positive attitude and ability to work well with a supportive and collaborative team

Student Director

Location: Caldwell Methodist Church

 

General Information

Supervisor: Senior Pastor

Status: Part-time (estimate of 20+ hours per week as needed)

Note: Hours include leading the youth at Wednesday Night Life; leading the youth for Sunday afternoon activities, or other agreed upon timeslots; planning time; meetings with parents as needed and additional meetings or gatherings for other unique events; and visiting youth school activities (i.e., football games, cheer, etc.).

Overtime Status: Exempt (Ministerial)

Job Description:

The Student Director is responsible for all youth activities (in consultation with the Pastor) and programs at CMC. The purpose of the position is to strengthen knowledge and faith in the hearts and minds of young adolescent children grades ranging from 6-12 as determined by each class; to prepare them for real world situations; to build their knowledge and confidence as they grow to become followers of Christ; and to teach them to humbly discover, own and defend their faith.

Administrative:

  • Meet regularly with the Pastor as agreed to discuss upcoming events and planning

  • Attend church staff meetings when requested

  • Attend leadership team meetings

  • Work collaboratively with the Pastor other staff

 

Skills and Qualifications:

 

Character

  • Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

  • Must be strong in your own faith, but have the ability to share it openly.

  • Must accept the bylaws and regulations of the current protection policy of Caldwell Methodist Church.

  • Humble, creative, team player.

 

Skills

  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as student and organizational management skills.

  • Proven ability to work effectively with youth, diverse individuals and teams of volunteers.

  • Effectively communicate and recruit volunteers from members of the church in addition to parents of the active youth.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Develop, Coordinate and Lead

  • Student section of Wednesday Night Life. This program is to help the students grow in faith through devotional times, discussions, prayers, meals, activities, experiences, etc.

  • Sunday afternoon activities/event where the students learn to become Christian leaders. Activities include mission trips or planned experience, retreats, fundraising, youth council, etc. to grow closer to God and to each other through service.

 

Curriculum and Planning

  • Schedule and recruit Sunday school teachers for the youth aged classes.

  • Develop weekly curriculum and long-term learning goals in consultation with the Pastor.

  • Recruiting and training students and volunteers.

 

Communication

  • Communicate with students, parents and church effectively through recommended media.

  • Make yourself available to the students in a variety of ways, extracurricular activities, times of crisis, and other general pastoral care.

  • Maintain connection to children's program and get to know the children and parents.

 

Other Responsibilities

  • Update the database to include information about participating youth and their parents.

  • Check e-mail daily (voice mail forwards to e-mail) and respond to all calls in a timely manner.

  • Ensure that the child protection policy, Safe Sanctuary, is observed and handled in all student ministry activities and events.

  • Ensure that the property the youth uses remains clean and maintained.

  • Follow safe money handling practices.

  • Help create, develop and model worship participation.

  • Evaluates and suggests equipment needs for his/her area of ministry.

  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Student Intern

Position Type:

Seasonal (Part-Time +- 20 hours)

Duration:

May/June – August (flexible based on availability)

Reports To:

Student Director

Position Summary:

The Summer Youth Intern will assist in leading, mentoring, and engaging middle school and high school students in a Christ-centered environment. This role focuses on supporting youth ministry programs, building relationships with students, and helping coordinate summer events, activities, and outreach opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and leading weekly youth gatherings, Bible studies, and worship nights

  • Help organize and participate in summer events (camps, mission trips, service projects, outings)

  • Build positive, Christ-centered relationships with youth students

  • Support Sunday morning and/or Wednesday night youth programming

  • Collaborating with church staff and volunteers in ministry efforts

  • Provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students

  • Assist with administrative tasks (communication, setup/cleanup, scheduling, etc.)

  • Serve as a positive Christian role model in words and actions

 

Qualifications:

  • A growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ

  • Passion for youth ministry and working with students

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Responsible, dependable, and organized

  • Prior experience in youth ministry or leadership (preferred but not required)

  • Must pass background check (if 18 or older)
